Jane & Michael - Brisbane Engagement Shoot

Jane & Michael - Brisbane Engagement Shoot

I love modern architecture. Glass, steel, concrete, straight lines, reflections and symmetry; all things that make the photographer in me go crazy. So when Jane & Michael suggested we get some photos at the Brisbane Supreme Court as part of their engagement session I knew it would be a good one! Law has played a big part in the lives of this couple so it really made sense to use it as a backdrop for their engagement photography. After doing a few laps of court buildings we then headed over to the Roma Street Parklands to mix it up with some lush greenery and flowering trees. Definitely a good combination. Jane & Michael are planning their Brisbane city wedding at Restaurant Two later this year. I just know its going to be really special and I can’t wait to photograph it!

Andrea & Justin - Royal Pines Wedding

Andrea & Justin - Royal Pines Wedding

On a perfect Gold Coast afternoon Andrea & Justin got married. They held an emotional ceremony in the Chapel of RACV Royal Pines on the the Gold Coast. Surrounded by their closest friends and family they cried, laughed and tied the knot. The venue was stunning with lots of water, giant fig trees and gorgeous flowering bushes. It was so nice to witness their wedding and of course be the photographer. Congratulations Andrea & Justin!

After the wedding Andrea & Justing sent me the loveliest testimonial. Thank you guys, it was my pleasure  – “We were lucky to stumble across Gabe who was recommended to us by a friend. We loved his portfolio and his relaxed yet professional approach to what he does. Gabe always made himself available before the day to discuss any ideas or concerns. He was calm (which helped us) and professional, yet fun and casual at the same time. The service he provided was fantastic value for money and the turn around for receiving the photos was equally impressive. Gabe followed our request to capture action shots from the day and night which we couldn’t be happier with. The photos tell a story from the beginning to the end and we still don’t regret not having a videographer. We could not recommend Gabe enough.”

Miranda & Adam - Brisbane Engagement Shoot

Miranda & Adam - Aratula, Scenic Rim Engagement Shoot

It always surprises me when driving west how quickly the landscape starts to look “Australian”. Wide fields of long brown grass, spotted with gum trees and old farm houses are not the usual domain of a Brisbane wedding photographer. You only need to drive 30-40 minutes before the country really begins to change. Travel a little further and you’ll start to climb the range that runs all the way up the east coast of Australia. I love exploring the national parks in this area and when I do I’m always on the lookout for stunning locations, ready for when I meet a couple up for the challenge!

Enter Miranda & Adam. We started their engagement session in New Farm Brisbane, spending a bit of time in some places special to them. Then we headed out west in search open fields and mountain ranges. We found some just a little bit further west of Aratula in the Scenic Rim.

These two love to celebrate and have a laugh so it was more than fitting that they decided a bottle of champagne was the only prop they needed for the shoot (is it still a prop if you actually drink it?).

If your not really sure what to expect from your wedding photography, or not sure how you will feel in front of the camera, an engagement is a really fun way to have a practice. You get to know your photographer and have fun without the time-pressures of a wedding day. Plus you will get some awesome photos out of it!
