A bit about me...
Hey, I'm Gabe. I live in Brisbane with my wife, two daughters, and cat. I love coffee (black, white, good, bad), riding my bike, traveling and eating new things. I grew up in the rainforest behind a small town called Mullumbimby, surrounded by a family of painters and drawers. Everywhere we went dad would take his sketchbook, pointing out compositions and how the light falls, but I never really understood until I was given an old SLR and discovered the darkroom in high school.
I moved to the big smoke (can you call Brisbane that?) shortly after high school and looked for whatever photo related work I could get. Fast forward 10 years and I have worked at some of Brisbane's biggest studios, learnt from some of the best photographers and photographed hundreds of weddings. If I had to describe my approach as a photographer I would say natural, fun, honest and romantic. I’m a big fan of wide open landscapes, but I am also not afraid to get in close to the action. I love hanging out with couples on their wedding day and working with them to create beautiful images that they will love for decades.
Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a wedding is no easy task. I want to make booking a photographer the easiest part. If your question isn't answered below, hit me at info@gabrielveit.com

Definitely! If you’re going to be in Brisbane we can arrange a time/place. If not Skype is great.
-
An $600 deposit and signed contract are required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due 2 weeks prior to the wedding. At around the same time, we will have our final meeting to go over the wedding schedule and to make sure I know exactly what is happening and when. This is usually done over the phone or Skype.

Yep, I love to travel for weddings! I have shot weddings in Bali, Europe and all over Australia. If your wedding is in the triangle of Byron Bay – Brisbane – Noosa – Toowoomba there will be no extra charge. If it’s further I only ask that you pay for my travel and accommodation.
-
Yes, 100%!
-
Of course! You will receive high-resolution JPEGs that are just waiting to be brought to physical life. Please ask me what labs
I recommend as, to be honest, Office Works probably won’t do them justice.

Yes, all my gear is covered and I have public liability insurance.

Yep, I learnt how to edit from working at some of Brisbane’s best photography studios for nearly a decade. I will subtly colour balance, adjust exposure and contrast to make sure everything looks amazing and is ready to print or share. I want my images to look natural and timeless.

About 4-6 weeks. I usually get pretty excited going through the photos so chances are you will get a sneak peek in the first couple of days.

I shoot with two Nikon mirrorless full-frame cameras and a range of lenses depending on what I am trying to achieve creatively. I love shooting with ‘Prime lenses’ that help me achieve that beautiful shallow-depth-of- eld, blurry background look. I might bring out a flash at the reception but most of the time I will be using available light.
-
Yes. And I'm not affraid to use it ;)

Don’t worry, I always have a backup plan. I have shot in a lot of venues, in all different kinds of weather. If you’re not afraid to get your shoes a little wet you will be amazed at what we can capture with a couple of umbrellas.

It depends on a few factors. If the ceremony and reception are in the same location and no travel time is required then 1 to 1.5 hours is a good amount. For me, the location shoot time of the day isn’t about working through a shot list. It should be a good balance of enjoying time with your new husband/wife and having fun with your bridal party… and I’ll be there to capture it.
